Dr M S Acharya Memorial Trust inaugural function – A report


The inaugural function of the Dr M S Acharya memorial trust was held on 1st January 2012 between 6 pm and 9 pm at Hotel Suprabhat, Habshiguda cross Roads, Hyderabad. The function was attended by Smt Indira Acharya who came to Hyderabad exclusively to attend the function along with her niece Smt Shakuntala. The inaugural speech was delivered by Sri Kowtha Lalith Manhohar, a close associate of Dr M S Acharya. He recalled the great humanitarian work carried out by Dr Acharya and how showed the way to reach great heights in spiritual pursuits. He called upon to imbibe the great qualities of Dr Acharya and to offer helping hands to the needy. Sri Manohar suggested that the trust could remember the legacy of Dr Acharya by distributing essential nutrients to vulnerable segments of the society, specially the lactating and pregnant women. Other who spoke about Dr Acharya included Dr Ramesh V Bhat, Dr M. Bhasker Rao and Prof A Y Chari, former Principal of Gandhi Medical College. A citation about Dr Acharya was read during the occasions and it was presented to Smt Indira Acharya by Smt Rukmini Purushotham Rao. A memento and shawl was presented to Smt Indira Acharya by Smt Sudha Vikram . The welcome address was rendered by Sri Ananth Krishna Rao and presidential address delivered by Sri PT Vikram . The programme began with an invocation by Dr. Deepti Narayanan and vedaghosha by students of Vidyapeetha, Sainikapuri. The programme was compeered by Sri Harish Kalmadi and vote of thanks rendered by Sri B N Murthy.

A cultural programme was presented by Smt Suvarna Prasad. It included two group dances by Messers Sudha Amrutesh, Divya Arvind, Sudha Vikram, Swarna Gouri, Sumathi Ramachandra, Lalitha Sripathy, Smitha Kalmadi, Sabitha Kalmadi, Ramya and Saritha and Rekha Rao. The group dance by children was presented by Chiranjeevis Poojitha, Meenakshi, Dhanyashree, Divyashree, Ananya, Aswath, Harish and Pranav. There were different types of dance performances – both classical and modern, by Chiranjeevis Meghana Acharya, Abnusha and Amitha, Sanjana and Siddhart, Dhanyashree and Divyashree, Akhila and Akshatha. Classical song and keyboard presentation was done by Kum Rachana. The programme was compeered ably by Kum Akhila.

The presence of some prominent doctors of Secunderabad and friends who were closely associated with Dr. Acharya, at the function, besides our Samaja families was notable
