Report of Dr M S Acharya Memorial Trust 2nd anniversary celebrations
The 2nd anniversary celebrations of the Secunderabad based Dr. M.S.Acharya Memorial Trust was held on January 5, 2014 at Sundarayya Vigyana Kendra. Dr Soma Raju, Chairman and chief Cardiologist of the Care Hospitals was the Chief Guest. In his address he called upon the trust to take medical care to the grass roots and lauded the efforts of the trust in providing health care to the masses. He spoke on the importance of generalists/family physicians. Stressing the need for reminding ourselves of generalist specialists like Dr. M.S. Acharya, who specialized in medicine and art of treating common patients, and described Dr. M.S.Acharya as honest, loving, disciplined and understanding.
Sri. P T Vikram, President of the trust welcomed the gathering and projected the objectives of the trust which include, Providing Medical Relief to the needy, Financial assistance to the poor to ensure basic necessities, Educational assistance in form of scholarships and books, Animal welfare and Social causes & environmental care.
Dr. M.Bhasker Rao, our mentor for medical camps, provided an account of the various activities of the trust carried out during the year 2013 which include successful conducting medical camps, eye camps, blood donation camps, dental check-up, special cardiology check-up camp and creation of unique concept of “Passon Books” to provide books for the needy students. He also highlighted the help readily available from the trust to those who need it.
The achievers from the members of the trust in the various fields were honoured. These include Dr. Ramesh V Bhat for his work on obtaining geographical indication tag for Udipi Mattu Gulla Brinjal, Sri B.K. Subramanya Bhat for fabricating the Pylon installed at Nehru Zoological Park as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations and Sri Arvind Raghavendran for being part of the team that was successful in obtaining an American patent for their invention of a software for retrieving documents and setting back in case of a operating system crash. Sri Ananthakrishna Rao, Secretary of the trust, proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Sri Ramachandran.
The cultural program that followed was a colourful and lively show, that had a mixture of amazing performances, both from the tiny tots to the adults. Performances included classical dances, dances performed to Bollywood & Tollywood tunes, English songs, Instrumental music and the grand finale, which was an ethnic ware show representing the different states of India. The whole program was a delight to watch and enjoy, with the dancing and singing talents of the members of the trust on full display.

The prize distribution to the various artists will be held at a thanksgiving meeting to be held on Jan 12, 2014 at 6 30 pm at Hotel Suprabhat, Habshiguda.
