Dr Matpadi Srinivasa Acharya (1928-1997)
Dr. Matpadi Srinivasa Acharya was born on 8-1-1928 in the illustrious Baipadithaya family of Sri Madhava Acharya and Smt Jalajakshi amma. He had his early education in Udupi and obtained Licenciate in Medicine from Madras. He began his medical practice in Secundedrabad and became one of the most popular family physicians. He married Smt Indira Acharya of another illustrious Muchintaya family of Udupi.
Dr Acharya established the Madhava Nursing Home in Secunderabad and had several clinics in highly populated areas such as RP Road & Bowenpally. He had great faith in traditional medicine systems and had the credit of nurturing many young physicians. Dr Acharya also dabbled in establishing an industry for the manufacture of camphor. An ardent lover of animals, he used to provide water and feed to the stray cattle & had shown great compassion to sick animals by nursing them with great care.
A great philanthropist, he was instrumental in building the Taulava Samaj, Secunderabad, and by serving as its President from 1983 till his death and the Sree Krishna Mutt at Mahendra Hills. He attained the lotus feet of Lord Sree Krishna on 2-8-1997, leaving behind his wife, a large number of admirers and well wishers.
